Call for Abstracts
The expected workshop participants are well-respected authorities from both public and private entities involved in the Freight Data industry. These participants engage on emerging trends in data and technology to support safe, efficient, sustainable, resilient, and equitable freight transportation, to support a strong economy, and to communicate useful information on the movement of people and goods across multimodal transportation networks. The planning committee invites practitioners and researchers to submit abstracts for presentation at the annual workshop September 20-21, 2023. Abstracts should address one or more of the workshop objectives, or otherwise inform practical advances in the use of emerging data sources by freight stakeholders.

Conference Objectives
The specific objectives of the workshop will be to share:

  • Latest applications of existing and emerging freight data sources and data fusion methods;
  • Applications of existing and emerging freight data sources and methods to meet local, federal, state or international freight planning and performance measurement requirements;
  • Freight data tools that are adaptable, flexible, and user-friendly;
  • Freight data tools that leverage innovative private and public data sources while preserving their proprietary nature;
  • Experience and best practices for addressing new challenges associated with the use of new and emerging data sources and methods; and
  • Experience and best practices in the use of freight data to inform infrastructure and policy decision-making at all geographic scales.

The Workshop planning committee is particularly interested in implementations that inform common freight planning and decision-making activities, including, but not limited to:

  • Statewide, metropolitan, rural, corridor, route, and gateway planning for multi-modal freight;
  • Freight transportation system resilience and supply chain performance measurement;
  • Evaluation of community and economic development impacts of freight projects at multiple geographic scales;
  • Development of city logistics solutions;
  • Evaluation of federal, state, and local policy changes on freight system operations and performance or freight industry operations; and
  • Land development and zoning decisions for freight-generating facilities.
