The TRB National Conference on Tools of the Trade brings together professional planners and practitioners in planning and implementing multimodal transportation for communities with a population of under 250,000 as well as for public lands. The conference provides ample opportunities for academics, agency officials from metropolitan and rural transportation planning organizations, local municipal governments, state governments, public land management agencies, tribal agencies, and the private and non-profit sectors to share research and best professional practices through interactive workshops, sessions, and networking opportunities.

Attendees will acquire practical tools and knowledge that they can immediately apply in their professional roles, whether in the public or private sectors. The conference will also address future research and implementation needs.

The conference will include four focus areas:

  • Leveraging tools to help decision-making and prioritization
  • Consultative planning and agency coordination
  • Emerging mobility and traveler information
  • Vulnerable road users
