Presenter bio: My name is Aamir Ahmad. I am a PhD. student at the Volgenau School of Civil Engineering at the George Mason University. I did my Civil Engineering and Master’s in Geo-technical Engineering degrees from National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan (NUST) which is the most renowned university of Pakistan in the fields of civil and environmental engineering.
I have been working as a consultant engineer in the industry for three years before joining GMU for my PhD in Geo-technical Engineering.
After attaining my PhD, my career goal is to be one of the geotechnical engineering experts in the field of design and planning, a professional who can give effective, practical and economical solutions that cater to the needs of various development situations. Upon graduation from GMU, I plan to work in a design and consulting role. By working for a firm or agency for seven to ten years, I will gain practical experience and key knowledge of geotechnical/geo-environmental systems. Eventually, I want to return back to academia and research with hands-on knowledge from industry and serve as a teacher.
