Per- and Poly-Fluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) and Transportation
7/15/2019
Lecture Room
3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Helen Corley: helen.corley@woodplc.com
Twelve months ago, many people had never heard of Per- and Poly-flouroalkyl substances (PFAS) - outside the realms of firefighting, military airports and communities around a few major corporations. This session brings together speakers very familiar with PFAS issues, but from the different realms of academia, consulting, and government transportation entities. Session attendees will learn why PFAS is so ubiquitous and challenging. Speakers will share direct insight into PFAS occurrence, transport, exposure risk, and state of the remediation R &D and practice. Hear some specific obstacles facing transportation professionals as PFAS hinders their mission. Session attendees will also be exposed to the unique regulatory status of PFAS where different state governments have developed different regulatory PFAS guidance and/or criteria in advance of federal lawmaking on the subject. Our overarching session objective is to leave the audience with greater awareness of the PFAS topic and thinking about how they might contribute to future solutions.
