Presentation Description
Will give a quick overview, without slides, of the NHTSA Office of EMS experience with EV crashes and saltwater submersion fires since a crash-tested Chevy Volt fire in 2011. I will then co-present with other panelists moderated by Thomas Barth (NTSB).
Speaker Biography
David’s main responsibility at NHTSA is the development and revision of formal EMS clinician education. He currently leads the office’s effort to implement the 2000 EMS Education Agenda: A Systems Approach and serves as the Contracting Officer’s Representative on several related projects.
David’s other responsibilities at NHTSA include representing the agency on numerous efforts to improve EMS clinician safety and serve as the office liaison to other Federal partners, EMS educators, and the fire service.
David is a Life Member of the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department (1989-present) and has served as a firefighter/EMT, Driver-Operator, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, and Fire Chief.
