Presentation Description
The panel discussion features emergency responder experts from fire/rescue, law enforcement, and EMS. The experts will present information about their agency activities with AV response, important considerations and preparation for responding to AV incidents, and lessons learned. The presentations will then be followed by a question and answer session on the topic of emergency response to AV incidents.
Speaker Biography
Dr. Barth is an investigator and biomechanics engineer at the National Transportation Safety Board. He has a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University and a Ph.D. in Applied Science from Cranfield University. Prior to the NTSB, he worked in private industry for 20 years on crash safety and regulatory compliance for both highway vehicles and aircraft. He joined the NTSB Office of Highway Safety in 2011 as a Senior Investigator focused on crash survivability, emergency response, and emerging technology. Currently he is the Chief of the Special Investigations Branch, conducting investigations with issues areas such as bridge collapse or emerging technology.
