Biography
Wannetta Mallette is a Professional Transportation Planner (PTP), PTP and EPA Environmental Justice Subject Matter Expert and currently serves as the Burlington – Graham Metropolitan Planning Organization (BGMPO) MPO Administrator. She has over 30 years of expansive experience in all facets of transportation planning at the local, regional, and state levels and has always promoted the inclusion of BIPOC perspectives to create equitable outcomes.
The BGMPO is the first North Carolina MPO to develop a regional safety action plan and was awarded a SS4A Demonstration Grant to install CCTV cameras as a safe speeds countermeasure. The University of North Carolina Safety Research Center awarded Wannetta the 2023 NC Vision Zero Safety Rising Star Award for her collaborative efforts in creating a regional Safety Task Force.
Wannetta has a graduate certificate in Project Management from the Citadel, a master’s degree in business administration from Webster University and an Undergraduate degree in Statistics from the University of South Carolina. She resides in Burlington, North Carolina and is a native of North Charleston, South Carolina. She enjoys traveling and soul line dancing in her spare time.
