This session addresses critical aspects of workforce development and equitable project delivery in the transportation sector. Presenters will discuss strategies for recruiting and retaining individuals with disabilities in the transit workforce, emphasizing the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). The session will also cover approaches to mitigating racial disparities in project delivery, highlighting findings from an NCHRP Handbook on this topic. Additionally, attendees will learn about the Federal Highway Administration's innovative Open Ended Performance Plans (OEPP) for the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program, designed to enhance equity in Design-Build contracting. Through case studies and best practices, this session aims to equip participants with practical tools and insights to promote a more inclusive and equitable transportation industry.
