Presenter: Suman Mitra
Bio: Dr. Suman Kumar Mitra is an Assistant Project Scientist with the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). He received his Ph.D. degree in Transportation Science from UCI in 2016. His primary research interests include travel behavior analysis, travel demand modeling, gender issue in transportation, land use-transportation interaction modeling, and transportation safety. Dr. Mitra applies and develops quantitative and qualitative research methods involving spatial econometrics, content analysis, discrete choice modeling, simulation, and GIS-based spatial analysis. His current research focuses on how technological advancement in transportation can best serve the disadvantaged population through the integration of transportation systems, economic activities, and land uses. He was a recipient of the UCI Chancellor Club Fellowship, and his research on carless households was awarded the Public Impact Fellowship in 2016.
