Timothy H. Kelly (Tim) recently retired after serving 37 years at the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO). Tim began his career with METRO as a Police Officer. Working his way through the ranks of the Police Department to become Chief of Police. He also served the Authority in the role of Chief Safety Officer and Vice President of Public Safety before taking on his final role as the Executive Vice President of Operations, Public Safety and Customer Service.
As EVP, Tim had oversight of all direct interactions METRO has with their customers. These included Police; Bus, Rail & Paratransit Operations; Safety; Risk Management; Claims; Drug and Alcohol Program; Customer Service; and Emergency Management. With these responsibilities he managed a budget of $400 Million and a team of over 3,000 personnel, consisting of both union and non-union personnel.
Tim continues to expand and share his experience in transit, security, safety and leadership through his involvement with industry related organizations and by serving on Federal, State and Local working groups, panels, boards, and roundtables.
