Reuse and Recycling in Transportation Infrastructure
7/15/2019
Lecture Room
1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Burak Tanyu: btanyu@gmu.edu
This session is gathered to present the reuse and recycling of materials. The attendees of this session will particularly learn about glass cullet, asphalt pavement, and concrete to be reused to construct infrastructures. Presentations regarding the recycled glass cullet and reclaimed asphalt will include examples from case studies, which will provide the attendees of this session an opportunity to demonstrate the use. Presentations associated with recycled concrete will provide insight about the compatibility of using recycled concrete in transportation infrastructures that contain drainage features constructed with woven and nonwoven geotextiles. The session attendees will gain insight about the importance of factoring in the potential of tufa precipitation from recycled concrete. Also, one presentation will outline the use of recycled concrete beyond the transportation field demonstrating the variety of venues where industrial by-products could be useful.
